Along the route, Eurostar has upgraded the toilets on the e320 fleet with custom-made hand dryers from DAN DRYER.
A large amount of paper clogged the toilets
In 2018, DAN DRYER was contacted via the railway-news web portal by Eurostar. They were looking for an expert in hand dryers to upgrade the toilets on their e320 fleet.
The existing hand dryers on the trains did not meet customer expectations. They were slow, which often led passengers to use toilet paper instead of waiting. The result was large amounts of paper clogging the toilets – each time, the carriages had to be taken out of service for cleaning and repairs, causing logistical challenges and additional costs.
Eurostar needed high-performance, durable hand dryers that could withstand constant use and minimize downtime. DAN DRYER designed a custom solution to meet their requirements: efficient, robust, built-in hand dryers that could be seamlessly installed in train toilets.
From December 2019 to February 2020, DAN DRYER delivered 379 specially designed “EUROSTAR” built-in hand dryers for the e320 fleet. The solution significantly improved both the passenger experience and operational reliability – fewer clogged toilets, less paper waste, and happier passengers.
