More than 100 years of brewing tradition
The Bernard Brewery is located in Humpolec, Czech Republic — just an hour’s drive from the capital, Prague. Brewing traditions in Humpolec date back several hundred years, to the time when the owners of the Herálec estate held the right to brew beer. Over the centuries, the brewery was gradually expanded, and by the 1930s it was producing large quantities of high-quality beer for the local area.
Bernard Brewery comes to life
The history of Bernard Brewery, as we know it today, dates back to 1991, when Stanislav Bernard, Josef Vávra, and Rudolf Šmejkal joined forces to purchase the brewery at an auction.
With great enthusiasm, they set out to realize their dream of a brewery producing high-quality Czech beer. They built the Bernard brand, which is now recognized throughout the country.
The company gradually grew and expanded its product range, and today produces 16 different types of beer, including gluten-free varieties, Black Avalanche, and top-fermented ale.
New visitor center
On the 30th anniversary of the Bernard Family Brewery, the company planned to open its visitor centre.
"We built the visitor centre so we could share it with you. We look forward to serving you fresh beer from the tank in the beer garden and offering food that goes perfectly with it. You can also go up to the top of the chimney and look around our beautiful region or down to the cellars for a tour of daily brewing operations”, the owners say.
LOKI was recommended by the architect who designed the centre. They were looking for sustainable products of high quality and an elegant design to match the visitor centre’s interior style.
The Bernard Brewery visitor Centre was inaugurated on June 1st, 2022 and is open to the public for visits.
